Exporting Data

4 min read

WittyForm makes it easy to export your form responses for use in spreadsheets, databases, reports, or any other tool. You can export all responses at once or apply filters to export only the data you need.

Export Formats

WittyForm supports two export formats, each suited to different use cases:

  • CSV (Comma-Separated Values): The most universal format. Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers, and virtually any data tool. Best for general-purpose exports, analysis, and imports into other systems. Every response becomes a row and every field becomes a column.
  • PDF: A formatted, printable document. WittyForm generates one PDF per response, so each submission is its own clean, readable page. Ideal for sharing an individual response with someone who does not use spreadsheet software.

Exporting All Responses

To export all responses from a form:

  1. Open the form and go to its Responses view.
  2. Click the Download button above the response table.
  3. Choose CSV for a spreadsheet, or PDF to save each response as its own document.
  4. Your file downloads to your device automatically.

The exported file includes every submitted response in the form. CSV gives you one row per response with a column for each field.

Completed and Partial Responses

The Responses view has two tabs. The Completed tab lists every submission that reached the submit button, and the Partial tab shows attempts that were started but not finished.

Exports run from the Completed tab, so your CSV and PDF downloads contain finished submissions. Switch to the Partial tab any time you want to review the entries people left before completing the form.

What the CSV Includes

A CSV export includes every form field as its own column, so nothing is left behind. You get the full answer set for each response in one file, ready to sort, filter, or analyze in your spreadsheet tool.

Because the file contains all columns, you can hide or delete any you do not need once it is open in Excel, Google Sheets, or Numbers.

Keeping a Regular Backup

If you want a recurring archive of your data, export to CSV on a cadence that suits you, for example at the end of each week or after a campaign wraps up. Store the files wherever you keep your records so you always have a clean snapshot to fall back on.

Tips for Exporting

  • Use CSV for maximum compatibility with other tools and services.
  • Use PDF when you want to share a single response as a tidy printable document.
  • Apply filters before exporting so the file only contains the responses you need.
  • Export periodically to keep your own backup of completed submissions.
