Publishing and Sharing Forms

5 min read

Once your form is ready, publishing and sharing it with your audience is straightforward. WittyForm gives you multiple ways to distribute your form: from simple links to advanced website embeds.

Publishing Your Form

To publish a form, open it in the editor and click the Publish button in the top-right corner. Your form will go live immediately and become accessible to anyone with the link.

You can unpublish a form at any time by clicking Unpublish in the same location. When unpublished, the form link will show a "form closed" message to visitors.

Sharing via Link

Every published form gets a unique URL. To copy it:

  1. Open the form and click the Share button in the toolbar.
  2. Click Copy Link to copy the URL to your clipboard.
  3. Paste the link anywhere: emails, chat messages, social media posts, or documents.

The link format is wittyform.com/form/your-form-id by default. Respondents can open it in any browser on desktop or mobile.

Embedding on Your Website

WittyForm offers several embed options to integrate forms directly into your website. Open the Share panel and select the Embed tab.

Standard embed (iframe)

The standard embed places your form inline within your webpage. Copy the provided <iframe> code and paste it into your website's HTML where you want the form to appear. You can adjust the width and height to fit your layout.

Popup embed

The popup option displays your form in a modal overlay triggered by a button click. This is great for keeping your page clean while still making the form accessible. Copy the embed script and button code, then add them to your page. You can customize the button text and style.

Slider embed

The slider embed makes the form slide in from the side of the screen. It can be triggered by a button, a timer, or scroll depth. This works well for lead capture forms or feedback widgets that should not interrupt the browsing experience.

QR Code Generation

Generate a QR code for your form to use in print materials, presentations, or at physical locations.

  1. Open the Share panel.
  2. Click the QR Code tab.
  3. Download the QR code as a PNG image.

When scanned with a phone camera, the QR code opens the form directly in the respondent's browser. This is ideal for event registration, conference feedback, restaurant surveys, or anywhere you need offline-to-online conversion.

Social Sharing

Share your form directly to social media platforms from the Share panel. WittyForm provides one-click sharing buttons for:

  • Twitter / X: Posts a tweet with your form link.
  • Facebook: Creates a post with a preview of your form.
  • LinkedIn: Shares the form link with your professional network.
  • WhatsApp: Sends the link in a WhatsApp message.

Custom Domains

On the Pro plan, you can serve your forms from your own custom domain instead of the default WittyForm URL. For example, forms.yourbusiness.com instead of wittyform.com/form/....

Setting up a custom domain

  1. Go to Settings > Custom Domains.
  2. Enter the subdomain you want to use (e.g., forms.yourbusiness.com).
  3. Add the provided CNAME record to your DNS settings at your domain registrar.
  4. Wait for DNS propagation (usually 1-24 hours).
  5. Once verified, all your published forms will be accessible from your custom domain.

Managing Published Forms

You can update a published form at any time. Changes are saved automatically and reflected instantly for new visitors. Keep in mind:

  • Existing respondents who already have the form open will see the version they loaded.
  • Adding or removing fields on a published form does not affect previously collected responses.
  • You can close a form to stop accepting responses without deleting it. Closed forms display a message that the form is no longer accepting submissions.
