Customizing Thank You Pages
The thank-you page is what respondents see immediately after submitting your form. It is your chance to confirm the submission, provide next steps, or direct respondents to another resource. WittyForm gives you full control over this experience.
Default Confirmation
Every form comes with a default thank-you page that displays a simple confirmation message: "Thank you! Your response has been submitted." This works fine for many use cases, but you can customize it to be more engaging and on-brand.
Custom Message
To customize the thank-you message, go to Form Settings > Thank You Page in the editor. Here you can:
- Title: Change the heading from the default to something more personal, like "We appreciate your feedback!" or "Registration complete!"
- Message body: Add a longer message with additional details. This supports basic formatting including bold, italic, links, and lists.
- Image or icon: Add a visual element like a checkmark icon, your logo, or a custom illustration to make the page more visually appealing.
- Button: Add a call-to-action button with custom text and link. For example, "Visit our website," "Submit another response," or "Download your receipt."
Personalization
Make your thank-you message more personal by inserting field values from the submission. Use merge tags like {{name}} or {{email}} to dynamically include the respondent's answers in the thank-you message. For example:
"Thanks, {{name}}! We will send a confirmation to {{email}} shortly."
Redirect URL
Instead of showing a thank-you page within WittyForm, you can redirect respondents to an external URL after submission. This is useful when you want to:
- Send respondents to a specific page on your website.
- Redirect to a download page for a resource or receipt.
- Take respondents to a scheduling tool to book a follow-up meeting.
- Redirect to a payment page or upsell offer.
To set up a redirect:
- Go to Form Settings > Thank You Page.
- Select Redirect to URL as the post-submission action.
- Enter the full URL (including
https://) where respondents should be sent. - Optionally set a delay (in seconds) before the redirect happens, allowing respondents to see a brief confirmation message first.
Conditional Redirects
With conditional redirects, you can send respondents to different pages based on their answers. This is powerful for creating personalized post-submission experiences.
Examples of conditional redirects:
- If a respondent selects "Enterprise" as their company size, redirect them to your enterprise sales page.
- If a respondent scores above 80% on a quiz, redirect them to a congratulations page; if below, redirect to a study resources page.
- If a respondent indicates they are interested in a demo, redirect to your calendar booking page.
To set up conditional redirects:
- Go to Form Settings > Thank You Page.
- Click Add Conditional Redirect.
- Define the condition (e.g., "If field X equals Y").
- Enter the redirect URL for when the condition is met.
- Add multiple conditions as needed. They are evaluated in order, and the first matching condition wins.
- Set a default redirect or thank-you message for respondents who do not match any condition.
Showing Response Summary
You can display a summary of the respondent's answers on the thank-you page. This lets respondents review what they submitted before leaving. To enable this:
- Go to Form Settings > Thank You Page.
- Toggle Show Response Summary.
The summary displays each question and the respondent's answer in a clean, readable format. This is especially useful for registration forms, applications, and order forms where respondents want to verify their input.
Submit Another Response
If you want respondents to be able to submit the form multiple times (for example, for logging daily entries or submitting multiple orders), enable the Submit Another Response button on the thank-you page. This adds a button that reloads the form with all fields cleared.
Tips for Effective Thank-You Pages
- Always acknowledge the submission: respondents should be confident their response was received.
- Tell respondents what happens next. Will they receive an email? When will they hear back?
- Use the thank-you page as an opportunity to share related content, social links, or a call to action.
- Keep the message concise. The respondent just completed a task: do not overwhelm them with a wall of text.
- Test the thank-you page in preview mode to make sure merge tags, redirects, and conditional logic all work correctly.
