Form Settings Reference
The Settings tab in the form editor contains all configuration options for your form beyond its fields and design. Settings are organized into five sub-tabs: General, Access & Scheduling, Email, Link, and CRM. This reference covers every setting in each tab.
General
The General tab contains the core identity and behavior settings for your form. Access it by clicking Settings > General in the editor.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Form Name | Internal name visible only in your dashboard. Used for organizing your forms. Does not appear to respondents. |
| Form Title | The public-facing title displayed at the top of your form. Also used as the default page title and OG title when sharing. |
| Description | Optional text shown below the title. Use it to explain what the form is for and set expectations for respondents. |
| Language | Sets the form's language for built-in UI text (button labels, validation messages, placeholders). Choose from 30+ supported languages. |
| Status | Toggle the form between Draft (not accessible to respondents) and Published (live and accepting responses). You can also set Closed to stop accepting responses while keeping the form URL active with a closed message. |
Access & Scheduling
Control who can access your form and when. Find these under Settings > Access & Scheduling.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Password Protection | Require a password to access the form. When enabled, visitors see a password prompt before the form loads. Set any password you like and share it with your intended audience. |
| Response Limit | Set a maximum number of total responses. Once the limit is reached, the form automatically closes and displays a "limit reached" message. Useful for contests, limited offers, or capacity-capped events. |
| Open Date | Schedule when the form becomes available. Before this date, visitors see a "not yet open" message with the scheduled open time. |
| Close Date | Schedule when the form stops accepting responses. After this date, the form displays a "closed" message. Combine with Open Date for time-limited forms. |
| IP Restrictions | Limit form access to specific IP addresses or IP ranges. Enter individual IPs or CIDR notation (e.g., 192.168.1.0/24). Visitors from non-allowed IPs see an access denied message. |
Configure email notifications and auto-responders. Access via Settings > Email.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Notification Recipients | Email addresses that receive a notification every time someone submits the form. Add multiple recipients separated by commas. Each notification includes the full response data. |
| Auto-Responder | Automatically send a confirmation email to the respondent after they submit. Requires an email field in your form. Toggle on, then configure the subject and body. |
| Email Template | Choose or customize the email template used for notifications and auto-responders. Select from built-in templates or create a custom HTML template with your branding. |
| PDF Attachment | Attach a PDF copy of the response to notification emails. The PDF includes all submitted fields in a formatted layout. Useful for record-keeping and printing. |
Link
Configure your form's URL and redirect behavior. Find these at Settings > Link.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Custom Slug | Replace the auto-generated form ID with a readable URL slug. For example, change wittyform.com/form/abc123 to wittyform.com/form/customer-feedback. Slugs must be unique across your account. |
| UTM Tracking | Append UTM parameters to your form URL for campaign tracking. Set utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_term, and utm_content. These values are captured with each response for analytics. |
| Redirect URL | After submission, redirect respondents to a custom URL instead of showing the default thank-you page. Enter a full URL (e.g., https://yoursite.com/thank-you). You can include response variables in the URL using template syntax. |
CRM
Connect form submissions to your WittyForm CRM. Configure at Settings > CRM.
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Auto-Create Contacts | When enabled, every form submission automatically creates a new contact in the CRM (or updates an existing one if the email matches). Toggle this off if you do not want form submissions feeding into the CRM. |
| Field Mapping | Map form fields to CRM contact properties. For example, map your form's "Company" field to the CRM's "Organization" property. Unmapped fields are still stored in the response but do not populate contact properties. |
| Lead Scoring Assignment | Assign a lead score to contacts created or updated by this form. Set a fixed point value (e.g., +15 for every submission) or use workflow-based scoring for conditional point assignment based on answers. |
Tip: Settings changes are saved automatically as you edit. You do not need to click a separate "Save" button: just make your changes and they take effect immediately (for published forms) or on next publish (for drafts).
