Deals and Pipelines
Deals in WittyForm CRM let you track potential revenue opportunities attached to your contacts. Pipelines give those deals a visual workflow so you always know where each opportunity stands.
Creating Deals from Contacts
To create a deal, open a contact profile and click Add Deal. Enter the deal name, expected value, and select which pipeline and stage it should start in. You can also set a close date and assign an owner if you are working in a team.
Alternatively, deals can be created automatically through CRM automations: for example, creating a new deal every time someone submits a lead-capture form.
Pipeline Stages
Each pipeline consists of stages that represent steps in your sales or lead process. The default pipeline comes with these stages:
- New: The deal has just been created.
- Qualified: You have confirmed the lead is a good fit.
- Proposal: A proposal or quote has been sent.
- Negotiation: Terms are being discussed.
- Won: The deal has been closed successfully.
- Lost: The deal did not convert.
Customizing Stages
Go to CRM > Settings > Pipelines to customize your stages. You can rename existing stages, add new ones, reorder them by dragging, or remove stages you do not need. You can also create entirely new pipelines for different workflows: for example, one pipeline for sales leads and another for partnership inquiries.
Kanban Board View
The pipeline view displays your deals as cards on a kanban board. Each column represents a stage, and deals appear as cards within their current stage. Drag and drop a deal card from one column to another to move it through the pipeline. The board updates in real time.
Each deal card shows the contact name, deal value, close date, and assigned owner at a glance. Click any card to open the full deal details.
Moving Deals Through Stages
Besides drag-and-drop on the kanban board, you can change a deal's stage from the deal detail view by selecting a new stage from the dropdown. Stage changes are logged in the activity timeline so you can track how long deals spend in each stage.
Deal Values and Currency
Every deal has an optional monetary value. Set your default currency in CRM > Settings and it will apply to all new deals. You can override the currency on individual deals if you work with international clients. The pipeline view shows a total value for each stage, giving you a quick read on your revenue forecast.
Won/Lost Tracking
When a deal reaches its final outcome, mark it as Won or Lost. Won deals contribute to your revenue totals. Lost deals can include a reason (e.g., "Price too high," "Went with competitor") to help you improve over time. Both outcomes are tracked in pipeline analytics.
Pipeline Analytics
The pipeline analytics view shows you key metrics including:
- Total deal value by stage
- Average time deals spend in each stage
- Win rate (percentage of deals marked as won versus total closed)
- Conversion funnel from first stage to won
- Revenue trends over time
Use these insights to identify bottlenecks in your sales process and improve conversion rates.
