Creating Your First Quiz
Getting Started
WittyForm makes it easy to build interactive quizzes for education, training, lead generation, or just for fun. In this guide, you will learn how to create a quiz from scratch, add questions, configure correct answers, and publish it for your audience.
Step 1: Create a New Quiz
- Log in to your WittyForm dashboard and click the New Form button in the top-right corner.
- In the form type selector, choose Quiz. This enables quiz-specific features like scoring, correct answers, and result pages.
- Give your quiz a name (e.g., "JavaScript Fundamentals Quiz") and click Create.
Step 2: Add Questions
Once inside the quiz editor, you can start adding questions. Click the Add Field button or drag a question type from the left panel onto your canvas.
Question Types
WittyForm supports several question types for quizzes:
- Multiple Choice: Respondents select one answer from a list of options. Ideal for most quiz questions.
- Checkboxes: Allow multiple correct answers. Great for "select all that apply" questions.
- True/False: A simplified two-option choice. Perfect for factual statements.
- Short Answer: Respondents type their answer. You define acceptable answers that count as correct.
- Dropdown: A compact single-select option list. Useful when you have many answer choices.
Writing Good Questions
- Keep questions clear and concise.
- Avoid double negatives ("Which is NOT incorrect?").
- Make sure only one answer is unambiguously correct (for single-answer questions).
- Randomize answer order to prevent pattern guessing.
Step 3: Set Correct Answers
For each question, you need to mark the correct answer:
- Click on a question to open its settings panel on the right.
- Under the Correct Answer section, select which option is correct. For multiple choice, click the radio button next to the right answer. For checkboxes, check all correct options.
- For Short Answer questions, enter one or more acceptable answers. You can toggle Case Sensitive on or off depending on your needs.
- Optionally, assign a point value to each question. By default, every question is worth 1 point.
Step 4: Configure Quiz Settings
Click the Settings tab in the editor to access quiz-wide options:
- Shuffle Questions: Randomize the order of questions for each respondent.
- Shuffle Answers: Randomize the order of answer options within each question.
- Show Progress Bar: Display how far through the quiz the respondent is.
- Allow Back Navigation: Let respondents go back to previous questions.
Step 5: Preview Your Quiz
Before publishing, always preview your quiz. Click the Preview button in the top toolbar to open a live preview in a new tab. Take the quiz yourself to verify:
- All questions display correctly.
- Correct answers are properly marked.
- The scoring works as expected.
- The result page shows the right information.
Step 6: Publish Your Quiz
When you are satisfied with your quiz:
- Click Publish in the top-right corner.
- Choose how to share your quiz:
- Direct Link: Copy the URL and share it via email, social media, or messaging apps.
- Embed: Copy the embed code and paste it into your website or LMS.
- QR Code: Download a QR code that links to your quiz.
